To meet these requirements, most students require more than six quarters to complete the training. Because of this need, classes are scheduled each summer quarter. Additional ratings for flight instructor, instrument flight instructor, multi-engine, helicopter, and sea plane may be earned through special arrangements. (Usually the eighth quarter). Special Note: Special departmental rules and procedures stated in the BBCC Student Pilot Handbook apply to this program. Special Admissions Requirements Students desiring admission into the Commercial Pilot Training Program must meet appropriate admission requirements stated in the aviation department student pilot handbook. Associate in Applied Science Professional/Technical Program Associates in Arts and Science Transfer Option Aviation Maintenance Technology General/Airframe/Powerplant & Commercial Pilot Program Option *Four-Year Degree Opportunities for BBCC Aviation Students* Option #1 Transferring to any four-year institution. Option #2 Transferring to an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Learning Center. Option #3 Transfer to an ERAU campus in Florida or Arizona. Option #4 Transferring to Central Washington University's Flight Technology Program. Option #5 Transferring to Central Washington University's branch campus in Moses Lake. Additional courses offered. Flight Instructor The flight instructor curriculum is designed for a Commercial Pilot to add the flight instructor certificate. The training course outline that follows is a lesson guide that has been designed to meet the particular needs of Big Bend Community College Students. Flight Instructor Course Description Curriculum: This training course meets all of the curriculum requirements for certification as stated in Appendix H of part 141. The training syllabus herein contains a separate ground course and flight training course. Each will be taught concurrently or separately, depending on the needs of the student. Each course (Ground or Flight) is usually completed in one quarter. Enrollment prerequisites: Students enrolling in the flight portion of this course must possess: a valid commercial pilot certificate with airplane category, single engine land class and instrument airplane ratings; a current medical certificate; and have logged the ground instruction as specified in FAR 61:185(a)(2). Students enrolling in only the ground course must have passed the commercial airplane FAA knowledge test and have logged the ground instruction specified in FAR 61.185(a)(2). Course Objective: The student will obtain the knowledge, skill, and aeronautical experience necessary to meet the requirements for a flight instructor certificate with airplane category and single engine class rating. Airplanes used in this curriculum Beechcraft BE-19, Sport Beechcraft BE-23, Sundowner Beechcraft F-33, Bonanza Belanca 7GCBC, Citabria for spin training Cessna C-180 Amphib All aircraft are equipped with at least one 360-channel transceiver and one VOR navigation receiver. All aircraft are equipped for day and night VFR. Most are equipped and maintained for IFR operations. Return to the beginning Single-Engine-Sea Single-Engine-Sea AircraftThis curriculum is designed for commercial pilots to add the Single-Engine-Sea rating. The outline that follows is a lesson guide that has been designed to meet the particular training needs of Big Bend Community College Single-Engine-Sea Course Description Curriculum: This training course meets all of the curriculum requirements for an aircraft class rating contained in Appendix I of Part 141. The training syllabus herein contains both a ground training course and a flight training course. Flight Training: 10 hours minimum up to 5 hours credit previous time. Ground Training: 10 hours minimum up to 5 hours credit previous time. Courses will be taught concurrently or separately, depending on the needs of the student. (This course is usually completed in less than 30 days). Enrollment prerequisites: Students enrolling in this flight course must posses a Commercial Pilot certificate and hold a current medical certificate. Course Objectives: The student will obtain the knowledge, skill, and aeronautical experience necessary to meet the requirements for an airplane single-engine sea, aircraft class rating. A Cessna 180 on floats will be used for all flight training in this course. this aircraft meets the requirements of FAR 141.39. Radio equipment will consist of at least a 360 channel VHF transceiver and at least one VOR navigation receiver. In addition this aircraft is equipped for day VFR as specified in FAR 91.205. Return to the beginning Multi-Engine Land Airplane Multi-Engine LandThis curriculum is designed for commercial students to add the Multi-Engine class rating. The training course that follows is a lesson guide that has been designed to meet the particular training needs for Big Bend Community College Students. Multi-Engine Course Description Curriculum: This training course outline meets all of the curriculum requirements for an aircraft class rating contained in Appendix I of Part 141. The training syllabus herein contains a separate ground training course and flight training course. Each will be taught concurrently or separately, depending on the needs of the student. (The course is usually completed in less than 30 days). Enrollment prerequisites: Students enrolling in this flight course must posses a valid Commercial Pilot certificate with single engine land class and hold a current medical certificate. Course Objectives: The student will obtain the knowledge, skill, and aeronautical experience necessary to meet the requirements for an Multi-engine land-airplane class rating. A Beechcraft D95A, Travelair, will be used for all flight training in this course. This aircraft meets the requirements of FAR 141.39. Radio equipment will consist of at least a 720 channel VHF transceivier and at least one VOR navigation receiver. In addition this aircraft is equipped for day/night VFR/IFR as specified in FAR 91.205.
