The aircraft rental fees are paid on Hobbs time for the hours flown.  A positive balance is required at all times in your Flight Fee account. Normally, no time is charged for ground instruction given at the flight line.

BBCC is an accredited college flight program.  While attending BBCC our students normally complete an Associate in Arts & Science (two year transferable degree) as well as an Applied Science Technical Degree in Aviation (Commercial Pilot).  Many of our students also start a third degree in our Aviation Maintenance Technology program or with Central Washington University, or another 4 year University while attending BBCC.

To add a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate the average cost for flight aircraft rental/lab fees for the last 10 flight students was $6011 (as of 04-22-2009).

The total average cost for flight fees to complete our Professional Pilot Course (Private Pilot Certificate, Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating Single Engine Land), & add on a Multi-Engine Rating and Certificate Flight Instructor Certificate is $36,965.  (current as of 04/22/2009)

Commercial Pilot Program Approximate costs 2009-2010

BASED ON AVERAGE FLIGHT TIMES (NOT MINIMUM)

AND COMPLETION OF THE AA&S TRANSFER DEGREE

This sheet will give you an idea of the cost to attend the Big Bend Community College Flight Program. It is designed to show the average cost of the program (not minimum) and assumes that you will be completing the AA&S transfer degree.  The cost also assumes that you will live in the college dormitories and will eat in the college cafeteria. Out of state students should add approximately $130 per quarter and international students should add $1924 per quarter for tuition expenses.  Because it would be possible to start the program and then be unable to finish due to lack of funds, it is suggested that you fill in the “source of funds” column for your seven quarters to complete, so plan on at least one summer quarter.
